Torgalmenningen is the absolute city center in Bergen. Here you will find high end shops and a wide range of restaurants, and the exclusive shopping mall Galleriet. One of the main focal points here is “The Blue Stone”, a huge sculpture whis is the most used meeting point for all the locals. Most of the restaurants are centered by “The Blue Stone”. Here you will find several Italian restaurants like Villa Paradiso, Boccone and Peppes Pizza. In the pink building right in the center of Torgalmenningen, former known as the Dickens building, now houses MM Cafe & Bar. You will also find TGI Fridays and McDonalds here. On the part of Torgalmenningen closest to Bryggen and the Fish Marked and the side streets here, you will find most of the shops, and as mentioned the exclusive shopping center Galleriet. Here are many high-end chain stores and designer brands. The huge white building next to Hotel Norge is Sundt, a former department store, now home to different brand stores under the same roof. (Unfortunately Sundt will be closed the next two years for refurbishment). Some of Bergen’s best hotels are also here; Hotel Norge, Hotel No 13 and Hotel Oleana. From “The Blue Stone” facing the main theatre - Den Nationale Scene you will also spot several other theatres like Logen (Det Vestnorske Teateret) and Ole Bull Scene. In the same street, Bocuse d’Or winner Ørjan Johannesens new restaurant Smakeriet is just opened.
