Skansen
Viewpoint
If you want a great view of Bergen
without using the funicular, Skansen
Viewpoint is an excellent alternative. In
summer, when several cruise ships
visit at the same day, the queues can
be massive. Then a trip up to Skansen
is a great alternative if you want to see
Bergen from above.
You are not as high up as Mount
Fløyen, but the view is perfect for an
overview. It is located only a short, but
steep walk or an affordable taxi trip up
from the center of Bergen.
Skansen is the area above the
Fløibanen Funicular entrance. The old
Skansen Firestation is a landmark in
Bergen and easy spotted from all over
the city.
If you want to walk from the steps to
the right or road to the left of the
funicular entrance, the trip only takes
between 10 and 20 minutes,
depending on your shape and pace.
Have in mind that there are no kiosks
og shops at Skansen, but a very
nicesmall coffe shop half the way up.
Remember to bring water or
something to drink on a warm day.
This video guides you all the way up to
Skansen and gives you a taste of the
view over Bergen from here.
