The KODE Museums 1-4 are all located
in a row alongside Lake Lille
Lungegårdsvann in the center of
Bergen. The museum buildings have
different approaches to art. In Kode 1
is Permanenten which is a museum
for design and fine crafts. Kode 1 is
also home to Italian restaurant Bien
Centro and a design store at the
ground floor.
Kode 2 is The Stenersen building -
home to the Stenersen Collection. This
building is today used for temporary
exhibitions and has a great lunch
restaurant Smakverket. Here you also
find the largest museum store with a
wide selection of design and art
books.
Kode 3 consist of permanent
exhibitions such as the Rasmus Meyer
Collection of Norwegian art from «the
golden age» (from 1880 to 1905),
including works from Erik Werenskiold,
Christian Krogh, J.C. Dahl and Hans
Gude among others. Kode 3 is also
home to the third largest collection of
Edvard Munch (most of the collection
is under restoration in 2022)
In the last one of the museum
buildings along the lake, Kode 4
Lysverket, you will find the
international art collection (parts of
the building is closed in 2022 due to
refurbisment). Here you will also find
