Bergen
Aquarium
Bergen Aquavium is the National
Aquarium of Norway. It is located at
Nordnes, a short walk from the center
of Bergen.
In an international range, it is a small
but very pleasant aquarium. It is open
until 1800 each day, 361 days a year.
Bergen Aquariumhas a large outdoor
area with penguins, seals and trained
sea lions. Many of the animals are
born here and are named after
Norwegian celebrities, like Pingrid
Alexandra (named after the
Norwegian princess) and Sindre
(former prime minister Erna Solberg’s
husband).
Both the penguins and the sea lions
are fed several times a day, which is
also nice occations to show off their
training.
Inside you can enter several
exhibitions, some permanent and
some changing (with themes like
“Plastic in the ocean”.
The aquarium starts off in a huge
rotunda, a 360 degrees room with
different underwater environments
and a wide selection of different
spieces, mostly from the oceanic
environments close by but also with
some exotic guests.
From the rotunda, a staircase leads
down to the many smaller aquariums
in the basement.
You leave the aquariums section
through a shark tunnel. From here you
can enter the other exhibitions.
If you are hungry, Bergen Aquarium
has a restaurant.
You leave the aquarium through a well
stocked gift shop.
